Seattle’s Talaris Conference Center’s “Meet, Shop and Sleep” package invites meeting planners who book a two-day meeting or retreat through December to receive a complimentary guestroom, along with a $100 gift card. The card can be used at any restaurant or store at University Village, which is located less than one miles from Talaris.

A crowd in excess of 200 filled the Masonic Hall on Sunday, Oct. 11 to enjoy local food, all of which was prepared and supplied by well known chefs and cooks from West Seattle and the Northwest at Eat Local Now. The menu included roasted winter squash and carrot soup from Spud.com prepared by Chef Bill Taylor of Talaris Conference Center.

Businesses and organizations still need retreats, contends Alan Stephens, general manager of the Talaris Conference Center outside Seattle, a retreat and meeting center located on an 18-acre, wooded setting. Some companies have shied away from retreats in a difficult economy, but Talaris is finding competitive meeting packages are spurring groups’ interest in booking retreats again. As a result, Talaris Conference Center recently extended its Sleepover in Seattle campaign to include meetings and events booked through December 31, 2009.

Located in Seattle, Wash., Talaris is surrounded by 18 acres of a park-like setting and offers 5,000 square feet of meeting space that accommodates 150 guests. “In this economy, many companies view corporate retreats and multi-day offsite meetings as an unnecessary luxury, yet as providers of these events, we are able to see the immediate value they bring to organizations,” says Alan Stephens, general manager at the conference center. “We hope that this incredible offer, combined with our cost-effective Complete Meeting Package rate structure will encourage companies to book these invaluable events.”
